How to Get Oil Spots Off of a Driveway
- 1). Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the oil spot. Allow the baking soda to absorb the oil for 30 minutes.
- 2). Sweep the driveway with a broom to remove the baking soda debris. Rinse away remaining baking soda from the driveway using water from a garden hose.
- 3). Pour 1/4 cup of concentrated liquid laundry detergent over the oil spot. Keep the detergent on the driveway for 10 minutes.
- 4). Scrub the oil spot with a nylon bristle scrub brush.
- 5). Rinse the driveway with water from the garden hose. Wipe up the runoff with paper towels to prevent contaminating vegetation. Contact your local waste removal service to dispose of the paper towels properly. They shouldn't be thrown in your garbage because the fluids they mopped up remain combustible.
