Take Your Man Home for the Holidays: Quick Makeovers for Men
- 1). Encourage your your man wash his hair often. Men with straight hair should wash their hair everyday, and men with curly or wavy hair should wash it every few days. Straight hair tends to lock in moisture better than wavy. Hair should never look greasy.
- 2). Suggest a haircut. Hairstyles vary with every man, and a haircut should fit your man's lifestyle and facial type. Go with a throwback look for a retro style haircut. Keep sides clipped and the top long, parting hair in the natural direction it falls. Choose a buzz cut style to keep things short and simple. Even hair that's kept long should be kept up regularly with a haircut to keep things from getting out of control.
- 3). Add some product. "GQ" advocates a little stiff pomade or wax to help control locks. If wax does not work with your man's hair, experiment with a mousse or putty that helps shape the look you are looking for. Use small amounts at a time, as big globs can make hair look slick and overdone.
- 1). Get your man into a routine. While you and your man are hanging around with family and friends during the holiday season, you're bound to be in close quarters with other people. He'll smell and look good by washing with a moisturizing soap and using a hydrating lotion to combat ashy skin. Use soap and lotion daily to prevent odors and skin problems.
- 2). Get out the clippers and trim nose and ear hair so that it's not visible. If your man plans to take off his shirt around family, suggest that he have a trim or wax excessive back and chest hair. Shave or trim down unruly or long leg and arm hair.
- 3). Clip the nails. While a man might shy away from going to get a manicure or pedicure at a nail salon, simple upkeep can be done at home with a pair of nail clippers and a quality hand lotion. Keep nails short and neat, and trim hangnails down with a cuticle cutter.
- 4). Brush and floss your teeth. While it may seem obvious, holidays are not the time to slack off on dental hygiene and can make a big impact around family and friends. Rinse with a mouthwash, floss and brush your teeth daily to prevent decay, yellowing teeth and bad odor. Pop in a mint or some gum occasionally to keep breath fresh.
