Unique Baby Basket Gifts for the New Baby
- Create a gift basket filled with the types of things both parents and baby will need when it's time for the baby to eat. If the mother is planning to breastfeed, consider items such as containers she can place in the freezer after she has pumped milk and needs to freeze it, breastfeeding covers and nipple cream. If the parents will be feeding the baby formula, fill the basket with cans of formula (do a bit of investigative searching to find out what kind the parents use; it's not a good idea to give parents this type of gift if the baby has yet to be born), bottles and nipples. Add bibs and burp cloths to complete the gift basket.
- Fill a gift basket with the special items the baby will need at bath time. Choose bottles of baby shampoo and soap along with baby wash cloths and towels. Include other items that baby can enjoy when she gets a bit older, such as bath toys and a small bath robe but make sure you choose items less traditional than the norm. You can even add a rubber covering for the bathtub's spigot so she won't bump her head on it when she is older and able to move about on her own.
- Consider creating a gift basket that complements the season in which the baby is - or will be - born. For example, when you are shopping for a summer baby, fill a basket with a baby bathing suit, tiny sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen. Include cute summery outfits and a small beach towel. For a winter time baby, choose mittens and hats along with thick blankets and a holiday-themed outfit or two. All four seasons also lend themselves to delightful books that celebrate a specific time of the year.
- The baby's parents are likely to have some special interest they would like to pass on to their child. Create a gift basket with items for the infant that are aimed at that interest. Perhaps the parents like a particular sports team. Create a gift basket filled with onesies, blankets, pacifiers and other items with the team's logo on them. If the parents are voracious readers, choose a gift basket filled with your favorites for the young reader. Animal lovers, on the other hand, will appreciate a gift basket filled with stuffed animals, books and clothing with fuzzy and furry friends on the front.
