    • Deere and Company is an American multinational company, and it is commonly referred to as John Deere, which is its most recognized brand. The company specializes in farming equipment, and it is headquartered in Moline, Illinois. The John Deere 318 is a riding garden tractor/tiller that was produced from 1983 through 1992, and it replaced the 317 model. You can purchase John Deere equipment from authorized dealers, including Wyoming Equipment, LLC and Kay-Jan, Inc.

    Engine Specs

    • The John Deere 318 Garden Tractor features an 18 horsepower (HP) Onan engine with two cylinders. It features an air cooling system, which helps keep the engine from overheating while you are operating it. The cylinders are made of cast iron, and it features a main and reserve fuel tank. The reserve tank holds enough fuel for between 15 and 30 minutes of extra operating time. It also has an electric power take off (PTO) clutch for both the rear and front PTO, and a hydrostatic transmission, and the rear PTO feature 2,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) to better control attachments. This garden tractor also features a Tecumseh trans-axle with hydraulic oil cooler.

    Size

    • The machine has a 25-inch turning radius. It comes with a 48-inch rear tiller and a 30-inch hydraulic tiller. The hydraulic tiller uses hydraulic fluid to move. The tractor also features a 50- and 60-inch grooming deck. This deck helps protect you from debris and blades while you are working. Other features of this system include a #44 front loader and a material collection system, which captures debris as you work. This saves you time since all you have to do is dump the debris when you are down, and not go around and rake it up. The dumping system operates via hydraulic power.

    Design

    • According to Weekend Freedom Machines, the 318 model features an open frame design, which is a departure from previous models that had a closed frame. The deck on this model was square to make it easier for the operator to comfortably control the tiller, and it also comes standard with an annunciator panel, which features a set of lights that provide information on the equipment status or act as a warning light. Weekend Freedom Machines also indicates that the front axle of this model was redesigned to hold more weight, and it comes with spindle bushings that you can replace. It also has a rubber-mounted engine and comes with a snow blower.
