    • Stihl makes both occasional use and professional use line trimmers. While the occasional use trimmers are used around the home on lawns and gardens, professional trimmers are used on larger landscapes and for ground maintenance. The professional trimmers have more power than occasional use trimmers, but they also feature many of the same parts and require the same accessories for protection.

    Standard Features

    • The Stihl line trimmers for homeowners feature a protected spark arrestor muffler to reduce noise and emissions. The fully lined driveshaft reduces vibration and offers individuals more control over the trimmer. The Stihl PolyCut has three theroplastic blades that are ideal for cutting around fences, trees, shrubs and walls. The parts can also be fitted with a nylon line that is used to cut low grass.

    Power

    • The Stihl HomeScaper Series Engine has a protected spark plug, full crankshaft, throttle trigger, steel-on-steel clutch and long-life cylinder. The translucent fuel tank allows individuals to check the fuel level before operation to ensure the tank is properly filled. The tank also is located in an upright position to make it easier to refill. Trimmers have an electronic ignition to make starting the engine easier.

    Attachments

    • Users have the option of attaching a strap or harness to the trimmer for more control over a longer period. Additional attachments include an edger, power scythe, pole pruner, power sweeper and brush.

    Accessories

    • Trimming lawns can cause debris and excessive noise, so individuals should wear the proper protection to prevent injuries from occurring. Stihl makes protective glasses that offer 99 percent UV protection and prevent debris from getting into the eyes. Heavy-duty Stihl gloves can help reduce vibration and prevent a trimmer from slipping out of an individual's hands. While Stihl trimmers feature parts to help reduce their noise level, wearing Stihl hearing protectors prevents damage to a person's ear from the constant noise coming from a trimmer.
