Getting inbound links to your website is one of the most crucial elements of SEO and search engine marketing.
It's also the biggest problem for many who aren't really familiar with many aspects of promoting products in the web.
There are many people who want to learn about SEO and inbound links because they want to promote their products - they have created a website made of one or two pages and now they want to get it as high as possible on search engines.
So they're trying to get as many inbound links (also known as backlinks) as they can.
And here such person might encounter a problem - because all the guides in the web that teaches about getting inbound links talks about getting these links for very active website - and promo website of your products isn't such active site...
For those who seek advices regarding getting inbound links for products promo website, I want to share some of my own tips.
1.
Get the content right.
Even if your website won't be updated very often, you still need to create some content there.
Make sure you include some keywords you want to optimise the website for on all sub-pages - and make few sub-pages, from three to ten.
Fill them with informative content that is related to the product you're selling.
That's the first and probably the most important step in getting backlinks.
2.
Create a sitemap and submit it for Google Webmaster Tools.
Next, hand-code or use online apps to create a sitemap for your website, and then submit it for Google Webmaster Tools.
This simple step will make it easier for the search engine to index your website.
3.
Put links on your own websites.
I hope you have few websites on your own already, right? Personally, I run quite a few of them so I always have some places to put first links.
If you have some websites, or you have your own blog, no matter if it's located on your own server or on free hosting service such as Blogspot or WordPress, be sure to put links there, too.
4.
Seek dofollow blogs.
There are many dofollow blogs out there.
Dofollow blog means that links left in comments on such blogs are being followed by spider bots, and indexed by search engines.
Use Google to seek dofollow blogs on your own, then start commenting.
Just be sure to post real and interesting comments, otherwise they might get deleted.
5.
Prepare for articles marketing.
If you think about promoting your own products, you have to consider articles marketing.
Even if you're not a writer, you can hire others to write content for you.
Articles marketing is useful, not only you're showing your skills and knowledge, but you also gain exposure and links to websites of your choice.
You can write for many websites, for example for articles directory such as eZine, or for revenue-share sites such as Squidoo or Hubpages.
6.
Seek link exchange programs.
There's a lot of online systems that focus on link exchange.
Their mechanics is simple, you display links on your websites and earn points this way.
Later, you can spend these points to promote your own links.
If you have your own website, give such system a try.
7.
Get paid links.
If you got some money for investment, you can use different online services to get paid links.
The biggest problem with this kind of inbound links is that when you'll stop paying, the link will be deleted.
8.
Get guest post.
One of the most successful ways to get inbound links is writing guest post.
Look for blogs that are related to the subject of your product, and ask their authors if they accept guest posts.
If they do, just start writing.
It's a common thing to credit the author along with active link to his or her website.
And with these eight simple methods, you can start gaining new inbound links to your product promo website.
