Is it the Last Tango For Strictly Come Dancing?
? In 6 years the show has been a phenomenal success, breeding the equally successful Dancing With The Stars in the USA and other countries too.
It is a mixture of live tension, and showbiz, making it a show suitable for all the family.
Throw in the public getting to vote for their favourites, and you have a winning formula.
This series though seems to have been dogged by controversy.
Firstly it was decided to replace one of the original judges, Arlene Phillips, with one of the previous winners.
This drew accusations of ageism against women.
Then it was discussed whether the host was too old - British entertainment legend Bruce Forsyth as an 80 year old was one of the reasons behind the success, but people were starting to question his position.
Then one of the professional dancers made a politically incorrect joke about his celebrity partner, which drew lots of complaints.
The celebrity status of some of the celebrities was called into question, and the BBC was accused of playing a ratings war with the rival show X Factor.
Personally I love the show - not only was I brought up on a diet of light entertainment tv, it's a real example of people going outside their comfort zone, and learning new skills under intense pressure.
As a writer of goal achievement books, I have to love that kind of show! I imagine the show has some years left.
Bruce the host may not be there next year, and from that point on the show would not be the same, but if it gets the viewers, it will still be commissioned.
So in my view, it's not quite the last tango yet for 'Strictly'!
