Company Man Episode Review White Collar TV Show
When Burke arrives at Novice Systems he is greeted with quite a fanfare by the company founder and CEO, Wesley Kent. Kent makes sure that Burke is set up with a lavish office, hotel room as well as meals and amazing coffee. Kent is obviously trying to ensure the man he believes is auditing the company will pardon any small things he finds during his audit. As Burke is enjoying this new temporary position he questions if he made the right career decision going into the FBI instead of a high paying job in Accounting.
Because Kent wants to ensure that his new auditor is happy he agrees to hire on Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) to help out with the audit. Caffrey soon discovers that a junior executive for Novice Systems, Jessica Breslin, seems to be extremely interested in the death and the case as Caffrey ends up finding Breslin in Burkes office snooping around in the files. We find out that Breslin was in a relationship with the recently deceased employee and she believed that it was Kent that murdered her boyfriend.
Caffrey and Burke follow this line of reasoning and end up realizing that Kent indeed was responsible for the murder. Kent discovered that the prototype that was created actually didnt work, and Kent didnt want that news getting out about it so he made the murder look like espionage. As Burke is finishing up his auditing cover he goes up to Kents office to confront him about their findings. Unfortunately Breslin, who was extremely upset with Kent, wanted to get revenge on Kent and used the same poison on him that was used on her boyfriend. Unfortunately Burke was sharing the poisoned drink with Kent to celebrate the completion of the audit.
Knowing what was going on with Burke Caffrey quickly rushed to the Novice Systems headquarters and managed to get past security to help save both Burke and Kent. After Kent and Burk were being wheeled into their ambulances at the end of the show, Burke revealed his true identity to Kent and told him that he was under arrest for murder.
At the end of the show Caffrey corners Burke and tells him that he knows he has been holding back the fact that he is in possession of the music box that Caffrey has been looking for the entire season. Burke ends up showing Caffrey the music box and indicates that there is a missing piece of the box that they have not been able to recover. Just then Caffrey pulls the missing key out of his pocket and inserts it into the box. The camera fades out just as the two are opening the music box.
