How to Replace Light Bulbs on a Whelen Rotating Beacon
- 1). Remove the clamp ring screw and then the clamp ring. Pull the optical dome away from the base. The dome is the opaque or semi-opaque part.
- 2). Remove the two screws and washers from the upper frame of the rotator part. The rotator part is the equipment under the dome that is mounted to the base. You'll see the upper frame screws on either side of the bulbs.
- 3). Disconnect one wire from the first bulb by loosening the screw attached on the bulb wire. Take that wire and attach it to the terminal on the new bulb. Repeat with the second wire on the first bulb, and then repeat with the first and second wires on the second bulb.
- 4). Discard the old bulbs and slide the new bulbs into position, making sure that any wire is tucked away so it won't snag the Whelen beacon rotation function. Replace the screws with washers and slide the dome back into place. Reattach the clamp ring and test.
