    Fresh Floral Arrangement

    • 1). Insert a block of wet floral foam into the watering can. The foam should extend 1/2 inch above the top of the can. Cut the foam with a serrated knife if necessary to fit, or attach two blocks together with floral tape to fit.

    • 2). Submerge the wet floral foam in a bucket with water until it is soaked through. Place the soaked foam into the watering can, and fill it with water.

    • 3). Insert the largest blossom flower stems into the foam to create the desired outline of the arrangement. Cut the stems as necessary with scissors. Leave spaces between the large blossom flowers to incorporate smaller flowers. Examples of large blossom flowers include dahlias, sunflowers and peonies.

    • 4). Insert smaller blossom flower stems into the foam between the large blossom flowers. Cut the stems as needed. Examples of small blossom flowers include daisies, gardenias and roses.

    • 5). Insert filler stems into the foam wherever space exists between the small and large blossom flowers. Fillers also work around the outside perimeter of the floral arrangement. Examples of fillers include baby's breath, forget-me knots and greenery.

    Silk Floral Arrangement

    • 1). Insert a block of dry floral foam into the watering can. Fit it into the watering can just as you might for wet floral foam, cutting the foam to fit 1/2 inch above the top of the can with a serrated knife. If the foam is too small to fill the space, tape two blocks together.

    • 2). Attach the foam to the watering can with floral tape.

    • 3). Insert large blossom silk flower stems into the foam, cutting the stems as needed with wire cutters. Leave space between the flowers to insert other flowers.

    • 4). Insert small blossom silk flowers into the foam between the large flowers, and cut the stems as needed.

    • 5). Complete the floral arrangement with silk fillers. Cut the stems as necessary to achieve a pleasing effect.
