Wedding Decorations Ideas for Gazebos
- By Flickr's Ronsho
Consider draping the gazebo with filmy fabric that will blow in in the wind. Put some lights underneath the gazebo and position them so that the light will highlight the gauzy fabric. This will be extremely romantic. You might even consider using pink light bulbs, which will give off a rosy hue and make you look even better than ever. - By Flickr's Wedding or Party Decorations, Weddingdecoratorblog.com
Garnish the circumference of the gazebo roof with the flowers of your choice. If you do drape fabric around or down the supporting posts of the gazebo, bows or fabric can used to keep draped material in place. - Weddingdecoratorblog.com
If you know you're getting married in a year or two, you could plant, in advance, and train Thorndale ivy or any type of ivy or moss to grow up the sides of a gazebo, if you own the gazebo. Other vines that you could train to encase your gazebo include Silver Lace Vine and Autumn Sedum. Of course, these particular vines, which boast small, white flowers, won't bloom until late summer or early autumn, so if you are getting married in June don't expect the flowers on these vines to be in bloom; however, the greenery itself is very pretty even without the blooms. Clematis, which blooms earlier in the season, and comes in an array of exquisite colors, would look nice trailing up the posts of a gazebo. - John-sharon.com
Wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com (See References 2) points out that if you are renting a gazebo make sure you know how big it is going to be. How many people will be under the gazebo during the wedding ceremony? Are there chairs available for the guests and are they included in the rental fee? Find out if it's OK to decorate the gazebo and if there are any specific restrictions on decorations. - Consider using a couple of big floral arrangements and situating them underneath the gazebo or at the entryway instead of buying a lot of little flower arrangements. Two spectacular floral arrangements will have more impact than a dozen little ones, according to Wedding-flowers-and-receptions-ideas.com.
- If you are renting, find out in advance if there are hooks inside the gazebo from which you can hang flower baskets. If there aren't any, ask the rental source if some could be added, suggests Nancy Tucker, President of Weddings Beautiful US. (See References 1.)
- If you are using bows as a decoration, or to secure the fabric to the posts, make them big enough to be seen and make a statement.
- Plan in advance. If your wedding is in mid summer or later, plant annuals in beautiful containers in the early spring and then use these arrangements to decorate the perimeter of the gazebo. This will add visual interest and color. If you have your own gazebo, and aren't renting, landscape around the structure well in advance of the wedding so that the flowers will be at their peak on your wedding day. Tend to the grass as well. Make sure that it's healthy and not dead and splotchy.
