When we talk about southern weddings, we cannot help but think of an event where people will share the warmth of each other's presence, and be welcomed to an amiable event where two people are bonded to join their lives together, because of their love for one another.
Weddings such as this are always very particular with comfort, which is not just shown in every major aspect of the event, but in the food that is served as well.
A typical southern wedding is not about the glamour and sparks that you normally see from expensive weddings where chandeliers are all around to spice up the place, and people are served with elegant dining plates and high-class wines.
Instead, guests are served with ordinary plates and get food from a buffet table, and are served with drinks in mason jars.
Weddings from the south are more on the casual type, where people can come comfortably on their semi-formal casual wear.
The foods that will be served are the foods that are traditionally enjoyed by the people of the south.

It is actually the centerpiece of the reception, where there will be a scene when the bride and groom will cut a piece of the cake, and feed each other a bite.
However, for southwestern weddings, it is very normal to see two cakes.
One is for the actual wedding, and the other one is what they call the "groom's cake".
The groom's cake is normally chocolate or amaretto.
The cake is not served to the guests during the wedding, but it is given to unwed females to take home, in the hope that they will find their own luck in finding their true love as well.
