Thousands of school and charter buses operate across North America, but they come from a relatively small number of manufacturers. Ranging in specialty from small school buses to large, luxury motor coaches each company is integral in supporting both mass and private transit. - Blue Bird Corporation has been in business since 1927 and manufactures a variety of buses. Among its products are school buses and coach bases ranging from Type A, which is the smallest and holds fewer than 10 passengers, to Type D, which is the largest and usually holds up to 90 passengers.
