How to Remove Trailer Decals
- 1). Place trailer in a location outside or in a well-ventilated garage.
- 2). Plug a heat gun or hair dryer into a electrical extension cord and then into an outlet. Make sure the cord is long enough to move freely around the trailer.
- 3). Turn on the heat gun or hair dryer. Set the temperature control to the highest setting.
- 4). Place the heat gun or hair dryer close to the surface of the first decal you want to remove. Move the heating device slowly from one side of the decal to the other side.
- 5). Lift an edge of the decal with a putty knife. Slowly pull the decal away from the trailer. Apply more heat if needed.
- 6). Repeat steps 4 and 5 for any other decals you want to remove.
- 7). Wash the trailer with a mixture of 50 percent warm water and 2 tablespoons of dishwashing soap. Use a sponge and scrub the area where you removed the decals. Rinse with clean water.
- 8). Dry the area with a clean rag or shop towel.
- 9). Apply mineral spirits to remove any remaining decal/adhesive residue. Use a clean rag or shop towel. Let the trailer air-dry.
