How to Take Off the Sway Bar Links on a Jeep Wrangler

    • 1). Locate the sway bar in the front of the Jeep. The bar runs parallel with the front axle and is located directly under the plastic cover on the front bumper with "Jeep" stamped on it. Locate the sway bar end links that connect the sway bar to the axle.

    • 2). Locate the mounting bolts and spray them with penetrating fluid to ease the removal.

    • 3). Remove the bolts that secure the sway bar links to the axle with a ratchet and socket. There is one bolt on each side.

    • 4). Remove the nuts on the top of the link with a ratchet and socket. Pull the links away from the vehicle.

    • 5). Tie the sway bar with wire ties to avoid having the sway bar bounce around while you drive. Secure a wire tie on each end of the sway bar. This will keep the sway bar secure at all times.
