Entertainment for your child's party does not have to be an expensive endeavor. Kids enjoy using their hands and creating things. As such, craft making is an ideal way to provide inexpensive amusement at your child's party. Another added bonus: Crafts double as favors and serve as reminders of the fun that was had at the party. - The types of masks that kids can make out of paper plates are virtually endless: animals, clowns or even characters from televisions shows or books. Have kids use scissors to cut out eyes and a mouth. Attach yarn or ribbon to the plate to hold it on the creator's face, or affix a craft stick to the bottom so the child can hold the mask up to his face. Provide children with crayons, markers, glitter, sequins and construction paper, and let them use their imaginations to create a one-of-a-kind craft.
- Kids will enjoy designing their own clothing and accessories. Purchase plain T-shirts, jerseys, sweatpants, flip-flops, shoes, hats or any other item of clothing or accessory that you can think of that children would like to decorate. Provide children with the garments or accessories and let them use fabric paint, fake jewels and sequins to decorate them. Partygoers will remember the fun they had at the party each time they wear the item they have decorated.
- Kids can put on a puppet show after creating their own puppets from paper bags. Supply kids with lunch-size brown paper bags, scissors, glue, staplers and craft materials, such as googly eyes, yarn, construction paper pipe cleaners, crayons, paint, markers, glitter and sequins. Have them lay the bags on a flat surface with the flap on bottom of the bag facing up. They can create a face on the flap of the bag and embellish the rest of the bag to look like a body for the person or animal they are making. They can wear the finished crafts on their hands and manipulate them as puppets.
