A trip to Amsterdam wouldn't be complete without a walk along the canals, a trip to the world famous flower market and a visit to the Van Gogh Museum, but if you're looking for something a little more exciting on your visit there head out for a night on the town to experience the real Amsterdam. Amsterdam's nightlife is a must for any visitor to the city, but there is simply so much to do and see there that it pays to check out all your options before you arrive.

If you're after something a little more upmarket try a night out at one of the many stylish cocktail bars that Amsterdam has on offer. Arc and Nomads are renowned cocktail bars that will serve you up some scrumptious drinks in beautiful, stylish and trendy surroundings, both of these bars conveniently transform into great spots for dancing, and host some of the world's best DJs and club nights. If you want a night of nonstop dancing head to Escape, which, with a capacity of two thousand, is one of the biggest clubs in Amsterdam so it's sure to get your booty shaking and your feet moving. Most bars like these are open until 3am each night but a few that have through the night licences so you can keep partying until the sun comes up.

A raucous night out in Amsterdam wouldn't be complete without a quick peek at the city's famous red light district. This area of the city comes alive at night and is the prime location for stag and hen parties determined to have a great last night of freedom.

Once you've partied the night away there will be nothing more welcome than a comfy bed in one of Amsterdam hotels or guest houses.
