Overview

Barcelona has become a city famous for its vibrant nightlife. Already a popular tourist destination it is popular with hen and stag parties and birthday weekends away. The young, elegant population demand a wide variety of establishments from laid back cool to loud fast nightclubs. The Spanish being famous for long, late dinners, it comes as no surprise that the nightlife doesn't begin until late in the evening when most northern europeans find local bars shut in their home countries.

Where to go

For a laid back atmosphere you could simply head for one of the many bars and restaurants which will serve a wonderful fresh meal followed by some live music or dancing. The magic fountain in the Placa Espanya is an ideal location for some free entertainment and crowds gather to hear the music and watch the fountain. This is a perfect location if you want to do some people watching.

For those wanting a faster pace, head to the wide variety of clubs and discos in the city. There is something to suit every taste from nightclubs playing the latest crazes to salsa clubs with dancing and of course local flamenco as well. The crowds can always be guaranteed to be a mixture of locals and an international set, with a fantastic atmosphere and good music.

Near La Rambla you will find the Gothic Quarter with its wide selection of restaurants and relaxed cocktail bars, perfect after a long day sightseeing. The promenade itself comes alive at night with street entertainers, musicians and artists and it is a lovely location for people watching or a romantic stroll. During the many local festivals throughout the year the area is buzzing with activity.

A younger set will enjoy a meal and some cocktails along the waterfront in the restaurants that serve wonderful seafood and drinks in a beautiful setting, before heading to the marina for some drinks in one of the harbour side bars. Most of these places will have seasonal entertainment, and for those visiting in the slightly cooler months during winter there is also Maremagnum complex with bars, restaurants, and nightclubs as well as cinemas.

A locations vacances espagne wonderful way to spend an evening would be a local flamenco show with dinner. Although slightly pricey this is a fantastic cultural evening for all the family to enjoy, with traditional dance and music accompanied by wonderful local food for an evening to remember.
