Despite government initiatives, hectic planning, welfare programmes, and legislation in the past decades, majority of children continue to live a life in despair, distress, turmoil, and in complete darkness. The era of darkness is increasing every day but still it has failed to wake up the sociologists, political leaders, and government officials. Till date many laws have been enforced to ensure that children are not abused and many regulations have been stamped to ensure that every child enjoys the right to childhood. But in the mist of darkness, everything is lost.

Its time to wake up friends and realize the urgency of the issue. Its not only the job of government, leaders, and sociologists to curb this darkness, light can enter only when we all wake up and stand together against the distressing act of child abuse.

The best way to fight the issue is to erase the causes and the factors that are promoting or supporting child abuse. Now the question arises, what are the causes of child abuse? If we peep into the real world then well come to know that there are various types that have their own causes and effects.

Child abuse can be physical that is mainly caused by stress-ridden family situations. Other causes of physical abuse are unhealthy relations between spouses, structural stresses, child produced stress, unhealthy relations between parents and children, child indulging in deviant behavior, and any kind of personality defect in any of the family member. These causes give rise to child battering and ill-treatment that leaves a long term impact on childs mental, emotional, and social well-being.

There can be sexual abuse that is mainly caused by family disorganization that creates absence of parent-child relationship in the family. Apart from this there are other causes like adjustment problems, victims characteristics, psychological disorders, alcoholism of earning male member, lack of adequate control on the children, dominance of step father, and social isolation. The impact of sexual abuse is so violent that it leaves a deep scar on the hearts of children.

The other important child abuse type is emotional abuse. This kind leaves one of the most heart-rending effects on the victim. Childhood transforms into maturity at a very early age and the emotional well-being comes to a complete end. The dominant causes of child emotional abuse are poverty, non-cordial relations within family, alcoholism of parents, deficient parents control, mal-treatment faced by parents in their own childhood, and socio-economic status in the society.

Now, when we know the causes of child abuse, all we have to do is to wake up and fight the causes. Just one cause at a time and gradually the darkness will fade away, bringing an era of light and happiness.
