    Whalers Village

    • Located on Ka'anapali Beach, the Whalers Village is Maui's oceanfront shopping mall. While visitors can engage in traditional mall activities such as shopping at the mall's 75 stores, the Whalers Village also offers visitors the opportunity to participate in cultural activities and entertainment.

The mall hosts hula and lei-making classes daily, and nightly performances at the mall's center stage feature Polynesian and Tahitian dances and Japanese taiko drum rhythms. Visitors in the months of October through April can partake in humpback whale watching.

The mall also houses the Whalers Village Museum, a tribute to Lahaina's history as a whaling town. Exhibits include a re-created whaling ship; antique ornaments and utensils from whale ivory and bone; and pictures finely carved on whale teeth and bone. The museum also features a Humpback Whale Talk on the weekend. Visitors may tour the museum free of charge.

    The Sugar Cane Train

    • The Sugar Cane Train provides a six-mile train ride complete with panoramic views of neighboring islands and the West Maui mountains. Visitors during the months of December to April might receive the added benefit of seeing humpback whales as the train passes the waters of the Pacific. During the train ride, a narrator entertains guests and points out sites of interest along the route.

Every Thursday night, the train hosts dinner service for an additional fee. Dinner includes a buffet of local island foods and a special chef-selected entrée. During dinner, guests are entertained with a hula show featuring members of the Na Pua O Kapiolani Hula Studio.

As of August 2010, the cost of a train ride without dinner ranged from approximately $15 to $23 per person and $45 to $60 with dinner service.

    Royal Kaanapali Golf Course

    • Opened in 1962, the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course was the first resort course built in Hawaii. The 18-hole course features an oceanfront green and holes on top of bluffs with views of West Maui, Lanai and the Pacific Ocean. Bermuda grass, trade winds, and undulations make this course particularly challenging. Royal Kaanapali is referred to as the "Tournament Course," because it hosted LPGA events from 1982 to 1985, and the original Seniors Tour from 1988 to 2000.

As of August 2010, course rates ranged between $75 and $235.
