Save Money on Vacation By Visiting a "Walkable" City
You really want to take a holiday but your budget is looking pretty dismal.
Don't worry, if you are wanting to take a vacation but don't have a lot of money, you can save money on your vacation by visiting walkable cities, When most everything is within walking distance you won't need to rent a car.
Even if your hotel is not right in the heart of the downtown activities, you can simply take one cab ride to the heart of the city and then spend the day walking from place to place rather than having to take a taxi to each destination.
The first city I would recommend would be San Francisco.
I happen to love this city and have visited there many times and did lots and lots of walking! We never need to rent a car because of course you can take the cable car if you get tired of walking (and that is lots of fun as well), but it's very enjoyable walking in this city.
The weather is normally fabulous too.
You really won't run out of things to do and the only time you would need to have a car available is if you wanted to visit somewhere like the Red Rock Canyon.
However, there are tours for that where they pick you up and drive you there if you prefer.
Another great walking city is of course New York City.
Your head will spin with the amount of things you can do and you will never need a car.
You may think that NYC is too expensive since you are trying to vacation on a budget, but you will be surprised just how affordable this city can be if you do a bit of research beforehand.
Of course you don't need a rental car, but there are also very inexpensive hotels to stay in and lots of budget flights if you keep an eye out.
Seattle is actually a nice place to visit where you can get around quite well by walking.
Some places you can walk to are Pikes Market, the Space Needle, over to the water front.
There is also a city bus you can ride to get around if something is too far to walk.
It might rain though! New Orleans is another excellent walkable city.
Tons of things to do such as casinos, river boat rides, French Market, French Quarter, antique shops, malls, galleries, and way too many things to mention.
If you get tired take the trolley.
A little research will turn up some great hotel bargains for you as well.
