- 1). Decide what time of year you want to visit Hilton Head Island. High season, when rates are higher and the island is more crowded, is from April through Labor Day. The best time of year to visit is actually mid-September when the weather is still warm but the area is not crowded.
- 2). Plan early if you are going to Hilton Head Island near any major holidays. The weeks of Easter, 4th of July and Labor Day are particular busy and popular hotels book up early.
- 3). Select one of Hilton Head Island's 24 golf courses. On the Hilton Head Island website (see Resources), you can learn more about each of the golf courses, including the public courses, semi-private courses and miniature golf courses.
- 4). Choose from the many hotels, inns, resorts, vacation homes and villa rentals available on Hilton Head Island. If you are staying for an extended period of time or coming with a large group, a rental home or villa makes more sense. These luxurious homes feature up to eight bedrooms. On the Hilton Head Island website, you can read about various choices and find reservation information. Most every hotel and resort on Hilton Head Island can provide a package deal that includes golf. Ask the reservationist for details and choose the right package for you.
- 5). Enroll at The Golf Academy of Hilton Head for lessons. If you are new to golf or just want some tips on your game, the PGA pros on staff can give you tips to improve your game.
- 6). Learn more about the island and plan other activities outside of golf. You can't golf 24 hours a day, but you can enjoy many other activities on Hilton Head Island. Popular activities include shopping at the island's 200 shops, water sports, tennis, guided tours, spas, hiking, biking and of course relaxing on the beautiful beaches.
- 7). Reserve your spots now. Hilton Head Island is one of the most visited golf spots in the world. Over 2 million tourists visited Hilton Head Island in 2007. Keep in mind that hotels fill up very quickly during golf’s peak seasons.
