Spain is a country of diverse cultural background. Various communities resident in the country have varied practices which are carried on to wedding ceremonies. Despite the fact that wedding festivities in various regions are varied, there are common aspects in one way or the other. In the present day, the nuptials are part of the Spanish culture that have managed to keep hold of the charm from the good old days and are magnificent ceremonies to attend.

Bride price as the traditional Spanish customary practice puts across comes in a total of 13 gold coins locally known as ‘Arras'. They are symbolic of Jesus along with his twelve disciples. The groom presents them to the family of his wife-to-be as appreciation of her worth and as a sign of devotion to her. The Arras is thereafter potted as the heritage of the bride's family.

The dress code of the bride in a typical traditional Spanish wedding is a black silk dress that goes with an elegant mantilla shroud. However, it is noteworthy to appreciate the fact that other textile materials such as the organza chiffon, tulle as well as taffeta are used for the bride's gown with respect to the preference of the bride. Beadwork as well as diamante is also incorporated in the bridal gown. The bride of the occasion is entitled to sport a trendy brand of costume jewellery made exclusively for brides.

Orange flowers are a common sight in any customary wedding in Spain. This is for the reason that they have a wonderful heady scent and are symbolic of bliss for the newlyweds ever after.

The Bride's father escorts her to the church where the nuptials are scheduled to take place while the groom is accompanied by his mother and is not supposed to see the bride before she arrives at the church. To make a marriage viable a couple exchanges rings. However, in Spain the rings are put on the right hand as opposed to the left as is the case in many societies in the world.

A wedding reception takes place soon after the wedding procession leaves the church. Shrill fire crackers rent the air as the procession leaves the church. In contrast to wedding reception parties, Spanish wedding plan of events does not leave room for speeches of any kind. Later in the day an evening party to celebrate the wedding takes place. Here, delicious foods inspired by the Spanish cooking habits are served.
