I own a maternity belt and I have a postpartum girdle, purchased both of them on the internet when I was still not too far in to my pregnancy. I had no idea exactly what the postpartum girdle was really designed to do€¦ nonetheless they were both Medela brand name and happen to be both low priced, thus I grabbed them up.
A maternity belt is associated with providing support for a mothers body expecting to grow (precisely the tummy, pelvis, back, lungs, etc€¦) and giving some relief from the, frequently uncomfortable, pressure of growing a newborn. On a side note the Medela maternity belt at some point needed to be substituted with a Baby's R' Us bought, two part maternity belt because the Medela maternity belt would usually roll over by itself and in the end it was only used for assisting me in retaining my slacks from dropping downward.
The postpartum girdle is worn almost immediately after the birth, with the idea that it may help you get back to the form you had prior to your stomach expansion. It is designed to assist, because of tension, to ease agony with the movement of the recently re-organized body. Postpartum girdles can often be employed Round the clock Seven days a week (accept during baths of course!).
Postpartum girdles are able to also assist you to fit into your "before pregnancy" clothing, supporting your loosened belly by €tucking' it in until your exercise routine will let you tone up. They may increase lymphatic drainage and help in bloating. There is a suggestion and belief your girdle might minimize postpartum bleeding, uterine cramping and upper back pain.
I do know that the pressure is a wonderful tool to help towards reduce the body from retaining water. Specialty tight socks put on on my feet have oftentimes saved them from hurting as much as they may have otherwise.
Postpartum girdles come in two classes.
1. Actual girdles which appear to be those that your granny once wore.
2. Banded support that will be elastic panels put on around the stomach.
For women who've needed a caesarian section, the postpartum girdle may help in recovery by defending the incision site and sort of €keeping you together' therefore lessening your possible ache, though this has not been shown one way or the other scientifically. Ask a physician to point out the best garment for your needs.
If you want a lots of support or maybe you want that feeling of firmness you'll probably want a durable grandma-style girdle. If you need something to enable you to keep your form beneath your apparel you are going to require a very simple banded style belt, which is the one which I will be using.
