Its construction started in 1918 and was completed in 1924. In 1953, Madame Song Ching Ling founded the China Welfare Society Children Palace here.
Shanghai Theatre Academy
Shanghai Theatre Academy is a specialized personnel theatrical art college in China. It is the previous Shanghai Municipal Experimental Theatre School. It was created by the famous educator Gu Yuxiu with the famous dramatist Li Jianwu, Gu Zhongyi, Huang Zuo founded Pro etc., on December 1, 1945. And Mr. Xiong Foxi led the dean. The college has three campuses: the headquarters is located in Huashan Road; Television Arts, Dance and Theatre Arts drama schools in Lianhua and subsidiaries, affiliated dance school is located in Hongqiao Road.

Cathay Theater is located in the Huaihai Road, Luwan District, No. 870 (Maoming South Road), close to the subway Shaanxi Road Station Exit 3. It was built in 1930, designed by the Hongda Matheson, reinforced concrete structure. In the first half of 2003, Cathay cinema built comprehensive large modifications.
