If you're attending a wedding shower, you will need to bring a gift. But, do not assume your shower gift has to be expensive. Keep in mind that you probably will buy several other gifts if you attend other showers for the same bride, and of course, you'll purchase a wedding gift. Also, remember that you should try to stick to the bride's registry when possible. This means that you can buy an inexpensive gift from the registry and then dress it up with your personal style. - If the shower is not a one that asks for a specific kind of gift, then consider purchasing a trio of cute panties with ruffles and in different colors. You can make this gift look expensive by wrapping them in tissue paper and a gift box or putting them in a silk overnight pouch that the bride can toss into the her suitcase for the honeymoon. Buy a trio that is on sale from a high-end lingerie store. This idea also works for a nightie or gown. As long as you buy it on sale, this item will be inexpensive without fudging on the quality.
- Check the bride's registry to find the most inexpensive pot and spoon on her registry. Then, wrap a fabric ribbon around the pot or spoon handle, and place a resealable glass jar filled with a homemade soup mix in the pot. You also can place a hand-written recipe card in the pot so that it stands upright with the jar.
- For the domestic bride, purchase a cute, short apron reminiscent of the 1950s and a string of faux pearls. You can buy the apron from a thrift or secondhand store or from an online vendor. Make sure it has ruffles and lace. If you have extra cash, then have it embroidered with the bride's married name. Buy a pretty string of pearls with an expensive-looking clasp on sale from a department store. You can include a card in the package that lets the bride know this is a "homemaking apron" that she can wear to get into the spirit of becoming a "domestic diva."
