    American Psychological Foundation

    • The American Psychological Foundation's (APF) Benton Meier Scholarship program offers awards of $2,500 to graduate neuropsychology students, according to the American Psychological Association (APA) website. Full-time graduate psychology students at any accredited U.S. university may apply.

    American Psychological Foundation/Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology

    • These organizations jointly award 13 graduate scholarships to support student research, according to the APA. Applicants are evaluated based on the quality of their research proposal and their plan for using the funds. Psychology departments that belong to the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP) may nominate their students for the APA/COGDOP scholarships for graduate research, according to the COGDOP website.

    Psi Chi

    • The National Honor Society in Psychology offers numerous awards for its graduate and undergraduate members. Often these awards honor completed research projects, giving the award recipient funds she can use however she deems necessary. The Guilford Awards, for instance, give $1,000, $650 and $350 for first, second and third place winners, respectively. Other awards support proposed research projects. The Council on Undergraduate Research Summer Grants Program gives two $5,000 awards to undergraduates who plan to pursue summer research with a sponsor from the organization, according to the Psi Chi website.

    American Psychological Association

    • The APA offers scholarships such as the APA Student Travel Award. This scholarship helps graduate psychology students to attend and present at the APA Convention, according to the APA website.

    National Association of School Psychologists

    • Through its NASP-ERT Minority Scholarship Program, this organization provides awards of at least $5,000 to minority graduate students who aim to practice as professional school psychologists, according to the program website.

    Individual Universities

    • Psychology departments at many universities offer scholarships for their students. For example, the University of Minnesota's Department of Psychology's Mortenson Scholarship provides awards of $1,000 to undergraduate psychology majors, according to the State University website. Also, the University of Wisconsin, Madison offers a $1,000 award to undergraduate psychology majors through its Uehling Award, which supports research for the applicant with the best research proposal, adds the website.
