Scholarships for a Graduate Degree in Communications
- The Broadcast Education Association offers a variety of scholarships to graduate communications majors interested in a career in broadcasting. The Vincent T. Wasilewski Scholarship is offered exclusively to graduate students and is awarded in the amount of $2,500. Other BEA scholarships offered to graduate communications majors include the $5,000 Abe Voron Scholarship, the $5,000 Alexander M. Tanger Scholarship and the $2,000 Richard Eaton Foundation Award. BEA Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement as well as an applicant's professionalism and personal integrity. The annual deadline for application is October 12.
- United Methodist Communications offers scholarship money to graduate-level communications majors pursuing a career in religious journalism through the Stoody-West Fellowship. This educational grant is awarded in the amount of $6,000. To be eligible, a student must be attending school in the United States. Selection criteria include religious background, academic achievement, journalistic experience and talent, clarity of career goals and potential ability as a religious journalist. The annual deadline for application is March 15.
- The organization New York Women in Communications offers tuition assistance to students seeking a graduate degree in communications through its scholarship program. New York Women in Communications scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging between $2,500 and $10,000. To be eligible, an applicant must be a permanent resident of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania, or be an out-of-state resident attending school in New York City. An applicant must also be a member of NYWIC and have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
- The Graphic Communication Scholarship Foundation offers scholarship assistance to graphic communications majors at undergraduate and graduate levels through the Graphic Communications Scholarship. To be eligible as a graduate student, an applicant must be pursuing a master's degree or Ph.D. and must be a permanent resident of New York City or certain counties in New York or New Jersey. The annual deadline for application is May 16.
