How to Remove Body Side Molding
- 1). Remove the screws holding the vehicle's power window control module to the door panel. If your vehicle has crank style windows, pop the window crank off by wedging the tip of the trim removal tool underneath the base of the window crank and prying up on the crank.
- 2). Remove the screws holding the armrest to the door panel.
- 3). Pry the armrest off the door panel using the tip of the trim removal tool.
- 4). Pry the top of the door panel off the door frame using the trim removal tool. Wedge the tip of the tool behind the door panel and pry up on the panel to remove it. Then, work your way around the entire outside of the door panel to pry off the door panel. Be careful that you do not break the retaining clips. You will hear a snap or pop when you are removing the door panel at various places on the panel. This is normal. The retaining clips are coming out of the frame. However, if you pry too hard, you could break the clips or damage the door panel itself.
- 5). Reach behind the door panel and squeeze the back of the retaining clips on the body side molding with a pair of pliers and push the clip back through the front of the door.
