    • 1). Start the car and allow it to run until it reaches operating temperature on the temperature gauge on the dash, or at least 15 minutes. Alternatively, start this project after driving the car for at least 15 minutes. Then lift up the car using the jack and place it on the jack stands.

    • 2). Locate the transmission drain plug on the transmission. This is toward the very front of the car, toward the passenger side of the engine and transmission assembly. Place the drain pan underneath the transmission drain plug.

    • 3). Insert the extension onto the end of the ratchet, then put the end of the extension into the square hole on the transmission plug. Turn the ratchet counterclockwise to loosen the plug, then remove it all the way and allow the transmission fluid to drain into the pan.
