- 1). Practice composing your photographs. Choose a simple subject to begin. Maybe your subject is a child or your pet. Try getting natural shots first. Use your camera to watch your subject in his natural environment. This will help you see your subject as the camera sees the subject.
- 2). Center your subject in her natural surrounding. Ask yourself what it is about setting that may make an interesting photograph. Take in the elements you see through your camera’s viewfinder. - 5). Carry your camera with you whenever possible and pay attention to the world around you. The more pictures you take, the more you will recognize conditions and subjects that might make interesting photographs. If you're out and you see a particularly good subject, use your camera to frame the subject. Is what's in your viewfinder as interesting as what you saw with your eyes. The viewfinder is what you have to work with. The more you get accustomed to looking at subjects using its parameters, the easier you will be able to identify shots you don't want to miss.
