How to Expunge a Case in Wisconsin
- 1). Search the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access database to view the record of the case you would like to have expunged (see Resources). Write down the exact name of the charge and the violation date involved in the case. You will need this to complete your request.
- 2). Review the record to ensure accuracy before requesting that the item be expunged. If the record is not accurate, you will need to address inaccuracies at when you submit your request to expunge your case.
- 3). Complete a form DJ-LE-250B (see Resources). The form requires a right index finger imprint. This is how the Department of Justice ensures that correct record is being expunged. If you were never fingerprinted for the offense, the case will not show up on your criminal history record.
- 4). Mail in your completed DJ-LE-250B form. Proof of completion of your court-ordered sentence or documentation showing that the case was dismissed or never resulted in a conviction needs to be included in the mailing.
