Automatic

• 1). Double click on the "McAfee Security Center" icon on your task bar. As long as you haven't manually disabled it, this icon will be present every time you boot up your computer.
  
  
• 2). Click "Updates."
  
  
• 3). Click "View Settings" in the "Updates" box.
  
  
• 4). Click "ON" under the "Automatic Updates" portion of the screen. McAfee will now periodically connect to the Internet and upgrade itself as these important program updates become available.
  
  

Manual

• 3). Click "OK" in the box that appears on screen. McAfee will now use your Internet connection to check for both program upgrades and virus definition updates that are available. If any are available, McAfee will download and install them at this time.
