How to Fix the Crank Shaft Sensor in a Pontiac
- 1). Raise the front of the vehicle, using the floor jack, then support it with jack stands. The sensor is located below the coil pack on 2.2-liter engines, and above the oil filter on 2.3- and 2.4-liter engines. Unplug the crankshaft position sensor's wiring harness connector, using your fingers.
- 2). Remove the retaining bolt, using the appropriate socket. Pull the sensor out of the block.
- 3). Lubricate the O-ring with engine oil and slide it on the sensor. Install the sensor and tighten the retaining bolt to 71 inch-pounds of torque on 2.2-liter engine, and 88 inch-pounds of torque on the 2.3- and 2.4-liter engines. Plug in the wiring harness connector, ensuring that it snaps into place.
