Fall Is Here So Pitch a Tent! Things to Do In in Hot Springs, Arkansas

It is time to dust off the Tent and Camping Equipment and prepare to enjoy Nature.
That also translates to the Weather IS Cooler!.
Did you know that Arkansas (The Natural State) has over 600,000 acres of Lakes? The area around Hot Springs, Arkansas is the Tri-Lakes area because of Lake Catherine, Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita.
All three offer beautiful places to sit back, relax and breathe in some clean, fresh air.
However, today we want to highlight Lake Ouachita which is about 10 miles West of Hot Springs, Arkansas and is a joint project of the U.
S.
Army Corps of Engineers and the state of Arkansas.
One of the first things you notice about Lake Ouachita is that there is no real development.
Man has not encroached and the focus is on the Conservation of project lands and water, wildlife, fish, and the forests.
You will see no homes overlooking the Lake from above.
For those of us who enjoy the peaceful and relaxing adventure of "Camping" will especially enjoy Brady Mountain Recreation Area.
This area is on the South side of Lake Ouachita and is best accessed from Highway 270 right after the little (and I mean little town) of Royal.
Hint: Best to already have purchased your supplies in Hot Springs as this is a fairly remote area.
You will drive in about 10 miles through forest and winding roads until you reach a clearing where you will see the restaurant and fire station.
You will be greeted at the mini registration station drive up.
If you are just driving through it is Free, however, to camp over you must reserve in advance if you wish to be guaranteed a camping space.
As with any camping space it is all about Location, Location, Location.
Upon entering you will see several camping areas but we HIGHLY Recommend driving on past the Overlook Vista.
Our recommendation for star gazing, moon watching, swimming and easy access to the "shower and restroom facilities" we suggest Spaces 51, 52, 53 and 54.
If you would like to be a little away from the facilities and the swimming area then the most IDEAL spaces would be 33, 34, and 35.
These spaces guarantee you all the comforts of a great Tent Experience coupled with Nature in all it's Glory.
SInce you are on a higher point you will be able to stargaze from under the tree canopy.
On around the bend you will find 28, 29, 30 (on the point), 31 and 32.
These are also off the beaten path so to speak.
There is a restroom facility within close walking distance.
So, the temperatures are cooling off, the leaves are turning colors and the Bald Eagle comes to Lake Ouachita to nest so it MUST be time to go Camping! We hope this short narrative provides you with the incentive to get your camping gear together and to head out to Lake Ouachita.

Please note that you must use both the name of the Lake and the Recreation Area (Lake Ouachita / Brady Mountain Recreation Area) If by chance you miss the opportunity to camp, this is also great for stretching your legs and doing some hiking and having a picnic.
ENJOY FALL!!!!
