How to Use Your Digital Camera For Instant Gratification

Technology is a beautiful thing! When your digital camera can basically run on automatic, technology is pretty darn amazing.
All you need to do is guide the camera with the use of dials and buttons offered through the menu options.
If you're not sure of this, every digital camera comes with a manual.
To say that you won't have to read the manual would be a lie.
Though using your digital camera is fairly simple, because technology has changed a bit and every digital camera is different, your manual will become very useful initially.
But, once you have mastered all the dials and buttons and menu options, you can put that manual away for safe keeping if you ever need it again.
More than likely, it will stay there for years.
First and foremost, your camera is unique and has setting options for specific subjects that you will need to adjust for.
This involves image size and quality.
To make those adjustments, you need to ask yourself several questions.
Depending on what you plan to do with your pictures, like email them or print them, you will choose different settings.
For printing the image once you photograph, you will have to decide how high you want the resolution to be depending on the size you want.
If you want an 8 X 10, you need to adjust your resolution higher.
Usually, if you're going to print the photo, you probably want a really sharp image.
The larger the size you want, the higher the resolution you need to maintain the quality of your picture.
Conversely, if you are printing to display on the Web or email, you don't need a big picture so you won't need such a high quality picture.
Lowering your resolution is a good setting for these types of photos.
Memory space is also a factor in determining setting options.
Your memory card is only capable of holding a certain amount of images.
I usually recommend a 2 GB card.
As you take your photos, you decrease that available space.
If you still have images that you need to take and you notice your space won't last, you might want to adjust your settings to the lower quality resolution so that you have enough room on your memory card to finish shooting.
Or, you can delete images that you don't need or won't be able to use.
As an alternative, you can buy a memory card that holds more than the original memory card your digital camera came with.
They are well worth it in the long run, especially if you're like me and love to take pictures everywhere you go.
I see something photo worthy every day and almost everywhere I go.
Get into the habit of downloading your photos and organizing them by activity or month.
Eventually, you will have so many pictures you won't know what to do with and won't be able to find a specific one if you don't organize them well.
Learning the basics with your manual is the only way for you to really get to know your camera.
Every camera is different.
Sit down and go through the first few pages and that usually will give you a good run down on your specific camera.
Next step, choose the setting for the photos you want to take, press the shutter button to focus the camera, and then take your photos.
Make the changes to settings as your needs change to ensure each photo you take measures up to your satisfaction.
This is where it all starts with your digital camera.
Give it a whirl!
