Golf Shooting in the 70s - golf tips I

What a great day to be a golf fan. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are headed for a showdown. The 2010 US Open is turning out to become a storied event. Tiger hit 8 birdies in his third round for his best ever at this USGA major while shooting a 31 on the back 9!

I believe I read in ESPN that Tiger Woods father when he was teaching him the game of golf, instilled in Tiger to always trust your golf swing. I'm a believer in that one has to develop his own game and not try to emulate another no matter who they are. So in order to find your best swing it will always come down to your golf swing mechanics.

It is always best to clear your mind and stay focused on the shot at hand. Remember the first tee shot is the most important of the day. So before you tee off you'll want to hit the putting green area for some golf swing practice. To find a better swing you'll want to find YOUR golf plane.

Before stepping out on to the golf course, it is always a good idea to warm up with some exercise. Even if you go to the gym; before every round warm up so you don't pull a muscle when you swing. Jumping jacks and walking in place will pick up the heart rate and get the blood flowing. Put your arms out to the sides and do little circles with your wrists to warm up the shoulders. Now that your warm lets practice.

YOUR golf plane will be where your swing is at its most comfortable but effective place while in motion. It can and will determine whether you're a low or high handicap. If you're a shorter golfer you'll find that your golf grip is more to the shoulder. If taller, the golf grip will point more to your right foot. Now to get back on track when you're mishitting the golf ball and improve on your golf ball striking, you'll want to make your arms go up if your swing is around and flat. Your golf club grip should be between your ear and shoulder at the end of your back swing. Try and take an inch or two step closer to the golf ball if you're too flat. Make that first tee shot count when you hit that golf ball and let it roll!
