How to Add Air to an Exercise Ball

    • 1). Remove the plug from your exercise ball and lay the ball out flat on the floor. Open up as many creases as possible so the ball is easier to inflate.

    • 2). Stick the tip of a ball pump into the open plug and begin pumping air into the exercise ball. If you don't have a ball pump, you can use a bike pump or air compressor, but you'll need to purchase a specialized tip and attach it to the pump. These tips are often sold alongside the exercise balls in stores.

    • 3). Add air to the exercise ball until it is approximately 80 percent full. At this point, you should be able to stick your finger into the side of the ball and create a 6-inch deep indentation.

    • 4). Allow the ball to sit undisturbed for 24 hours so the plastic walls have an opportunity to stretch. At this point, you can fully inflate the ball so it is firm, but not hard.
