When a baby turns 1 they usually get a grand birthday party with their own cake, many guests and presents.
There is often great fanfare and all of the stops are pulled out.
For a second birthday party though a toddler may not receive as much attention.
Every birthday should have a great celebration though and here are some tips to make a second birthday party memorable.
Your toddler will probably understand this year that their birthday is a special day and they are now 2-years-old.
In fact they will probably entertain guests by showing them that they are "this many fingers.
" A favorite character, animal or book may help making the decision of a party theme much easier.
They will be delighted to see matching cups, plates, and decorations of their favorite thing.
Most likely they will participate in blowing out their birthday candles at their second birthday party too.
A separate cake is not a common custom but cupcakes are always popular.
You can decorate your own cupcakes and place them on a cupcake stand.
Plan on creating a scrapbook for your birthday child as well and take many pictures.
They may not remember the day.
It will be nice for them to look back on pictures and mementos from their special day.
Try and get pictures of as many of the guests, decorations, and presents as you can.
Do however remember to enjoy the party so that you can create your own memories as well.
Remember that your child is only 2 so don't plan on having a long party.
Try and limit the whole party to 2 hours so that they do not become overwhelmed and tired.
A fun activity for 2-year-olds is a piñata with pull-strings.
There is no hitting involved! Each child just has to pull a ribbon looking for the one that will open the bottom of the piñata.
Have a bag or a bucket for each child to collect their prizes in.
