    • 1). Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery by turning the mounting bolt counterclockwise and pulling the terminal off the post. It is important to disconnect all power sources when working on the truck's electrical system.

    • 2). Remove the switch assembly from the door panel by prying up one corner and pulling the assembly out by hand. Disconnect the wiring harness from the switches by pulling the adapter plugs from the rear of the assembly.

    • 3). Remove the door panel by turning the arm rest bolts counterclockwise then turning the interior door handle screw counterclockwise. Pull the door from the plastic rivets that pin it to the metal by tugging at one corner of the panel and working each rivet off individually. Some rivets could break due to brittleness, but this is normal, and replacements are cheap. Once the panel is freed from the last pop rivet, it can be removed and set aside.

    • 4). Disconnect the electric window motor from the truck's wiring harness by pulling the adapter plug apart. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the motor to the window regulator by turning them counterclockwise then pull the motor away from the gears. Replace the motor with a new unit.

    • 5). Press the new motor to the window regulator gears and secure the mounting bolts clockwise. Connect the wiring harness adapter plug. Replace the door panel by pressing the plastic rivets into their respective holes and giving each one a light tap. When all of the rivets are seated, tighten the door handle screws and arm rest bolts. Reconnect the switch assembly and place it back into the door panel opening by pressing it in gently. Reconnect the battery and test the window.
