How to Change a Fog Light

    • 1). Raise the front of the vehicle and support with jack stands. Remove the two wires leading to both fog lights. If they are factory units, there should be quick disconnects close to the lights that just require pulling apart. If there are no convenient disconnects, cut the wires close to the fog lights to be replaced.

    • 2). Remove the bolts and nuts from the fog light bracket holding it to the bumper. Use the appropriate socket and ratchet.

    • 3). Install the new fog light into the bracket provided on the bumper. Screw in the bolts and nuts using the same socket and ratchet used in removal.

    • 4). Connect the wires. It the wires are the quick-disconnect style, push them together to connect them. If there was no quick disconnect or they are aftermarket lights, strip the insulation off the ends of the wires using wire crimpers. Use blue wire barrel connectors and insert the wire ends into both ends and crimp with the crimper.

    • 5). Lower the vehicle and turn the lights on. Loosen the adjusting screws on the side of the fog lights and aim them against a wall so they shine straight ahead and low. They should shine on a wall 20 feet away where they are 2 feet high with the left light centered and the right light slightly to the right to shine on the shoulder of the road. Once aligned, tighten the adjusting screws.
