Plan Well Before a Career Change
Remember career change is a risky step and should be done with proper care and planning. Given below are few points that you must consider before change of the career:
1.   Assess your likes and dislikes
A majority of people change their careers because they do not like their jobs. However, before making any final decision, think about the things you dislike in your job. If you do not like your boss, a job change is not the correct step. On the other hand if you do not like the type of work you do in the job, you will be better off walking away from it (however, its best to have a plan of action in place before you make this decision, new jobs, reskilling, finance, etc). Before ascertaining any next step, you should consider your likes as well. Find out the things that excite and energize you and you will be closer to the answer. Try to rediscover yourself and you will be surprised to find how clearly the answer about the right career choice appears
2.   Research and make your mind about the new career:
Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Hence, it is extremely important to research all that in involved in your new career. Consider the pros and cons and you are sure to find if you really want to spend the rest of your life in this new career. However, do not be overcautious as a career change is bound to be accompanied by certain amount of insecurity. Certain careers are interlinked and a shift from one to another is relatively easy. It is easy to become a teacher if you are a trainer but almost impossible to become a doctor if you are an engineer.
3.   Update your skills and training
It is also important to see if your current skills will be useful in your new career. Certain skills like communication, leadership, team management, and planning and resource management are applicable to different careers. Also, update your skills by undergoing trainings and take short courses to update your education. Remember, it is important to be well-prepared beforehand in order to perform well in the new career.
