Nurse Training in Australia
- To train as a nurse in Australia, you must first apply for and undergo a college nursing school course. Studies last a minimum of three years and provide training in both the classroom, with theory, and in a health care environment, learning the job in a hands-on environment. See References for more information.
- Nursing scholarships are available to those entering the medical profession in Australia. For many individuals, paying outright for higher education is too expensive, so these scholarships are not only desirable, but necessary. See References for more information.
- Once you have qualified as a nurse and successfully applied for a job, your training will continue in your new role. In your first job as a nurse, you will be considered "in training" and will be offered education and guidance from senior nurses, one of whom will be assigned to you as a mentor.
