How to Plan a Superhero Birthday Party
- 1). Set the party's atmosphere with the invitations. Think of a clever expression, perhaps one that incorporates your child's name and his favorite superhero: "Head over to Ryan's Bat Cave for Adventures and Top Secret Action," for example. Dress your child in a Batman outfit, take his picture and order invitations from a photography store. Order personalized ones from a specialty printer or buy blank ones from a party store. Create a document on your computer and print at home.
Invite guests to dress as a superhero for the party. If the party includes messy activities, let parents know that as well. Mail invitations a few weeks before the party. - 2). Plan for a superhero atmosphere at the party. Use one particular superhero or a combination of many for the decor. Look at superhero tablecloths, napkins, plates, cups, streamers and posters to add to the party's look. Use your child's action figure collection as decorations as well.
Enlarge a magazine cover of your child on a mock comic book or create a poster of your child and his friends in various superhero costumes from other events. Some photo services have various templates you can use.
Have superhero cookies, cupcakes or cake. Create a dyed punch that matches a superhero's outfit. Use a cookie cutter to shape bread and then make the sandwiches. Top food off with plastic superhero toppers. - 3). Plan to dress guests in superhero attire. Buy capes at a costume store and drape them on guests when they arrive. Hand each guest a plastic light or superhero tool belt. Give guests stickers; children enjoy wearing stickers and they are less expensive than other options.
Rent an adult superhero costume and have a friend or parent entertain the party guests for a bit. Hold superhero races, let children swipe at a piñata, and play "pin the cape on the superhero." For quieter crowds or winter parties, set up a craft table with small brown bags and markers to create superhero puppets. Set out crayons and superhero printables as well. - 4). Create superhero goody bags to hand to children as they leave. These can be filled with foods to make them grow into strong superheros like an orange, apple and package of raisins or nuts. Add a superhero coloring book or necklace to the goody bag.
