About Spyware - What it Really Is?
This industry and the people advertising their products seem to think that it's within their best interests to focus on the sinister and criminal element about spyware.
However the biggest source of spyware is advertising.
Not that I'm suggesting the more serious and sinister side about spyware should be ignored; that would be wrong.
But it is true that many companies and advertisers use it to sell anti spyware products.
In reality this is nearly as bad as the spyware itself; preying on innocent victims.
The slightly menacing image that the word spyware instantly suggests isn't wholly accurate.
The idea that you could be under continual surveillance is very worrying for a lot of people.
But that's not really the whole truth about spyware.
The biggest problem with spyware is the browser hijacks and annoying pop ups that advertise porn or gambling.
They are indiscriminate and will infect every computer they can gain access to.
This kind of behaviour is very unfriendly and is actually illegal if minors have access to a computer infected in this way.
But there is so little control and so much of it about, spyware does its job very effectively in that way.
The correct words to use about spyware would, in most cases, be annoyance and frustration.
Removal and prevention is not so difficult when you're armed with good information and the right tools.
But that kind of information can be hard to come by and the right tools aren't common knowledge.
The top security software is clued up enough about spyware to recognise a threat before it becomes a problem and stop it in its tracks.
It will never reach your computer.
But even if something does slip through the net it will be dealt with and removed quickly and easily; in many cases you won't even need to get involved.
So the answer to any question about spyware problems is simply to use the best software.
Then you can virtually forget about spyware all together and spend all of your time doing the things you like most on the internet.
