Different Kinds of Hoses for Your Gas Regulators
Direct Fitting to Cylinders
Firstly, there are specific built of hoses that are being connected to gas cylinder regulator, which are directly fitted to the cylinder. For this particular application, there is less pressure since this is the main purpose of the regulator. As a general rule, the length of the hose should be up to 18 inches only. This is specifically true for cookers since longer hoses have a higher risk for the hose to inadvertently pass across the hot source like the oven vent located at the back of the appliance. If longer runs are needed, then using pipework would be a must.
Detachable Hoses for Bayonet Fitting
Secondly, detachable hoses with bayonet type of fitting are widely available too. You can usually buy these from various suppliers of different catering tools and equipment. What you need to do in order to disconnect the hose is to slightly turn it in and then pull it back again. This is similar to how you remove other regular bayonet-fitting from its socket. When it is being unplugged, there is a sealing mechanism that shuts off the supply of the gas to the hose. However, you need to differentiate those that are intended for LPG and natural gas since they cannot be interchanged.
Armored Hoses
Thirdly, but not the least, there are also armored hoses for special purposes. This can also be used with gas bottle regulators. However, there are some problems with these wire-braided hoses. This is because while they might look sturdy, their application has so many restrictions. For example, when it has been flexed repeatedly, the wire strands will break. Once this happens, its sharp ends might puncture the hose, which may eventually lead to leakage. With that, this particular type is not advisable to be used indoors where the gas may accumulate since the space is enclosed.
