How to Clean the Fuel Valve of a Honda

    • 1). Open the hood and disconnect your car battery from the power source.

    • 2). Take the engine cover off to reveal the fuel valve. It should be next to the driver's side of the vehicle. If you have difficulty finding it, refer to your owner's manual.

    • 3). Detach the valve from the engine. There should be one wire connection with one or two hoses connecting the valve to the engine. Some Honda's will have screws attached to the hoses so you need a screwdriver to unfasten the screws.

    • 4). Wash the valve using carbon cleaner. Put the valve on a flat surface and pour the carbon cleaner fluid into the valve. Allow the cleaner to run through the valve for eight hours.

    • 5). Clean excess dirt with a wire brush and put the valve back in the engine.
