    • 1). Visit the Maryland Historical Trust website. Click the text that reads "National Register of Historic Places" on the left side of the page, directly beneath "Research & Survey."

    • 2). Click the text that reads "Follow this link" in the third paragraph of text. On the next screen, select the appropriate type of search you wish to conduct. Choose between searching historic homes by name, location or keyword. Conduct your search.

    • 3). Choose historic homes you may be interested in renting and bookmark them for later use. Write down telephone numbers and contact information for each home you are considering. If there is no contact information listed, you may need to conduct a separate Internet search using the property's name; you can also call the Maryland Historical Trust at 877-634-6361 to get more information on each property.

    • 4). Contact the owner of each property by telephone or email. Ask if the historic home is available for wedding ceremonies, how much the rental fee and deposit will cost and whether your wedding date is available. Take notes next to each property name to avoid confusion later.

    • 5). Pay the rental fee and sign acceptance of responsibility documents that are provided to you by the property owner or management. Many historic homes charge a deposit that will be held by the owner to cover any damages the property may sustain during your wedding ceremony.
