I know most of us can't wait to retire especially if we are close to that age.
But the fact is our body and mind can be quite unprepared for retirement, especially if we don't have anything planned.
A body which kept up with a grueling routine for years starts falling apart as the stress finally catches up with you.
Mind becomes bored, can deteriorate or slide into depression.
The important thing to do to avoid depression disorder and all sorts of physical ailments is to keep active.
Fresh air, gardening, planting, exercise is a sure way to keep you fit.
It's a proven fact that working with soil, growing things considered a sort of depression therapy, it soothes and calms you down, makes you feel peaceful.
It's also a very good way to control your anxiety.
You can also travel to places where you always wanted to go, but never had time.
You can pre-plan months before the event and get very cheap deals.
You can always find something according to your finances, even if it's cycling or walking holidays, and new impressions, positive emotions and joy will always keep possible depression at bay.
Another sure way to stay healthy and upbeat is either to get a hobby or to turn your old hobby into a business.
Nothing feels better than doing what you enjoy and get paid for it! You like craft? Try selling what you create.
Bake cakes? Open an online shop or spread the word around your neighbors and friends.
Don't forget that you need to keep your mind sharp, learn something new everyday, however small it is or do crosswords, train your mind to prevent it from deteriorating.
Keep socializing.
If you remember I said before, that even 10 minutes a day of talking to another person face to face prevents you from getting depressed.
There are plenty of clubs you can join, just find out about them in your local community centre.
At last, volunteer.
Helping each other, feeling needed is a great part of our humanity which does wonders for your physical and mental well-being.
It can be anything, however small - work for few hours a week in a charity shop, your local food centre, church, care home etc.
Even babysitting your neighbors' baby will do wonders for your positive attitude.
