Although West Wales is often considered to be part of the region of South Wales, it is farther up the coastline and as such offers its own unique set of holiday attractions that are worth taking note of if you plan to stay near the New Quay, or Newquay area.
Not only are there wonderful seaside piers to explore, but a great deal of the attractions are low cost and focused on nature since inland are many great woodlands and rivers to explore especially if you are in shape and ready to tackle some excellent hill walking trails.
In particular, one of the most coveted spots to explore in West Wales is Cenarth Falls, which is a long line of waterfalls that all happen to fall along one river walk trail.
The awe-inspiring falls are enough to leave you wondering, but it is worth continuing on down through the trails because you will also find the Coracle Museum and a very charming village that is hidden inland near the falls.
Sometimes depending on the time of year that you visit the falls you can even see the salmon jumping and leaping at the bottom of the falls.
As mentioned, one of the major reasons that people flock to West Wales is given its lovely harbour with a full promenade that is representative of the past and adds a nice charm to any beach getaway adventure.
Here you can take place in everything from fossil hunting activities to plenty of restaurants that are strung out along the harbour or you can simply walk down the scenic south west coastal path until you are ready to stop and shop for a bit to finish off your day.
While in the Quay area you will want to make sure to charter a cruise or private boat so that you can head out into the harbour to dolphin watch.
While there is never a guarantee that you will get to see the dolphins, in this area in particular the stakes are high that you will be greeted with the site of the playful animals horsing around which are memories that will last a lifetime.
You can also choose to charter or hire a boat while on holiday for surfing around the coastline and exploring the edges of Wales, or simply to get some fishing in while on holiday if you wish.
Most people who choose to stay in West Wales enjoy accommodation that offers them excellent scenic sites from their window and doorsteps.
Although there are some spotted hotels around the area, most people prefer to hire self catered apartments or to find lodging in the many small but darling bed and breakfast joints that populate the seashore such as the Summat Else.
Caravan parks are also an excellent choice in the area for the apartment experience with built in entertainment if you are travelling with a family such as what you can find at the Quay West Holiday Park.
